Join the Race!
Starting March 1, let's "Race to The End!"
You finished NaNoWriMo, but your novel's not done.If you participated in NaNoWriMo, you probably have a pretty good headstart on your novel. National Novel Writing Month, for those who don't know, is a month-long writing marathon that you can "win" by writing 50,000 words. Hundreds of thousands of writers participate every year, and many achieve their word count goal.
The problem? With a typical novel weighing in at 80,000 words (or more), there's still more writing to do! And beware the lingering temptation, especially around holiday time, to tuck it away in a drawer until you get around to finishing it "someday"—the danger is that you'll forget about it, and your manuscript will gather dust, possibly for eternity.
What's the solution?Keep on going and finish your novel! Join us for "Race to The End," our 30-day writing challenge that starts on March 1. Your goal is to keep writing until you type the two words that matter most: "The End."
Enjoy the holidays, then start 2017 with a firm resolution: to finish your novel.Remember, of all the words you type, "The End" are the two most important, because it means you've completed the very first step in becoming a publishing author: writing your book.
You're in good company. There's plenty of help, advice, and support available to make sure you have a solid first draft by the end of March.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to participate in NaNoWriMo first? We are not affiliated with NaNoWriMo, and there is certainly no requirement to participate, but Race to The End will be a lot easier if you have a headstart on your novel. Of course, it is possible to completely finish your novel in a month, even if you start with a blank slate!
Is there a word count goal? The only goal is to finish the first draft of your novel, and final word count will vary quite a bit from writer to writer. Here are some typical novel lengths:
How do I win Race to The End?You're competing against yourself, but you should work as quickly as possible. Once you've typed "The End," and you have a complete first draft, indicate that you're finished in the "Race to The End" section on your dashboard.
